Since having replaced the 16 Ohm drivers in my upper-bass horns with 8 Ohm versions of the same driver, I gained enough upper-bass output that it is now possible to run all horns from the 8 Ohm taps (I was previously running upper-bass from the 16 Oh...

Consider treating the problem at its root. Why not build a simple dedicated PC, running Server 2008 with a RAID array? I recently added a RAID 10 array (8TB, striped and mirrored), to an HP workstation... The result is fast, secure and dead quiet.jd...

I'll be optimistic, and say that I too will one day be moving. Here's how I plan to do it; this solution is obviously not for everyone:The principle here is to not box or crate anything heavy, but to use the floor of the truck, wasting a lot of space...

About the proposed attic-mounted 40Hz horns: Is there an elephant in the room?I'm speaking of the proximity of two horns, relative to each other, and the possible consequence; namely they may end up working as a sort of mono horn... A situation furth...

It is also possible that I'm reacting to a lack of true dedicated mid-bass. As previously mentioned, while the pair of 40Hz horns are under constructon, I co...

Assuming that by rocking the tubes too aggressively, one might cause the socket to lessen its grip on the pins: One way to check this might be to break open a set of dead tubes and remove a single pin from each, then hold each pin, one at a time, in ...

Thanks Romy and Paul for the explanations.Paul, I of course did know how to measure the voltage from the test points; what I didn't get, was how you were coming up with the current reading. Why do you run the V1 at 185V?jd*...

I am familiar with the fresh 6C33C behavior, and I do set bias much lower while burning them in. This set of tubes has been installed for about 3 months; the amps are operating about 45 hours a week. Before switching them on the next time, I'll t...

Romy, thanks, as usual, you seem to have been right. The system is on and I just checked V2 voltage; its way off, above .4VDC, so I grabbed a hot pad from the kitchen and rocked the V2 tube. The socket made the familiar a dry creaking sound and see...

Since renewing all tubes in both ML2s, over the period of about 3-5 minutes, the V2 bias on one of the amps cylcles between .27 and .33VDC. Is this behavior indicitive of a defective 6C33C?jd*...

A little update : Reading some recent comments in the "Configuration from Italy" thread: http://www.goodsoundclub.com/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?postID=12605#12605 prompted me to share what I've recently done. Yes its an obvious thing to do, but it took...
